If you want your child to gain the best foundation for math, then Singapore math is for you. It’s consistently ranked as the highest country in the world for math mastery and for good reason.

In Level 1 your child will be introduced to a highly visual online classroom to build in a solid sense of place value and number sense for the numbers 1-100. Using place value charts, number bonds, and many more visuals, we strive for a classroom filled with math talk, heavy visuals, drawing of problems, and a solid understanding of digits, and numbers. Interwoven throughout this year are discussions on shapes, money value, and a heavy emphasis on addition and subtraction within 100. Expect your child to be challenged as they learn various ways to solve problems.

Level 2 of our Singapore math program will take your child’s understanding of place value to a higher level, and builds on the foundations that we’ve built up in Level 1. Your child will be introduced to various methods to add and subtract within 1,000. Additionally, they will be shown a plethora of multiplication strategies for their facts and in solving multiplication problems. Finally, we will work together on time, elapsed time, and seeing fractions as parts/wholes. They don’t have to take Level 1 in order to join this amazing math program, but can join if this is what they are covering in school which will deepen and solidify their understanding.

We once again build on the foundations set in Level 1 and Level 2, but if they are new to Singapore math that’s also fine as it will build their understanding of the concepts they are learning in the classroom environment. Your child will review place value to the 10,000’s place, and begin heavily working on bar model drawing to solve difficult word problems. Your child will also work on their multiplication to the 9’s. As we explore measurement, they will work on seeing the relationship of numbers and the formulas to determine area and perimeter. In addition, we will weave through various mass and length measurement problems. Finally, we will work on various ways to determine, order, and compare fractions.

In Level 4 your child will begin with working on place value to the millions place. They will work on various strategies in solving multiplication and division problems. We will work together to add and subtract fractions and put them into whole numbers/fractions. They will work on various types of graphs, and in determining area and perimeter of shapes with missing sides. Throughout their lessons, they will be challenged with word problems, and enabled with tools to bar model/draw, and solve the problems.
